Huawei, the Chinese owned mobile technology company and world fastest growing smartphone products manufacturer has on Friday unveils it’s own Mobile Operating System named Harmony OS as a possible rival to Android. This was born out of the threat of losing access to Google’s Android as a result of the lingering United States and China trades conflicts.
Harmony OS lunch has been long overdue as it considered very important for the mobile giant survival and relevancy after being faced by White House embargo on United States companies selling tech products to Huawei which could stopped its continuous dependent on Android.
This was revealed by the Huawei’s head of consumer business, Richard Yu in a press conference in Southern China City Dongguan, he said Harmony means HongMeng in Chinese Language.
He said the company will introduce the first version later this year in its smart screen products lunch before extending to other wide range of smart devices over the next 3 years.
He added that Huawei does not have plan to stop running on Android but in the event of eventuality, they can decide to switch from Android to Harmony OS at anytime as a back up plan. He noted that Harmony OS is solely meant for the future and even designed to be more smooth and secured and completely different from Android and Apple operating system.
Huawei has been in a lingering trade war between Washington and Beijing which has cost the company a lots in billions of dollar as tariffs in international trade.
The technology giant has been blacklisted by United States President, Donald Trump , for suspiciously providing backdoor secret intelligence services for its country China which was denied by the firm.
This hence American companies to literately not allowed to sell technology products to Huawei, it was a three months grace period which will reach it end soon.
According to Yu, he said they are still very much interested in dealing with Google as they consider it a very good company and they are still open to further business discussion.
